How do I access the New School Archives and Special Collections, including the Kellen Design Archives?

This guide explains everything researchers need to know about accessing the New School Archives and Special Collections.

Collection Guides

The Archives creates collection guides, sometimes called finding aids, to our collections. All our available guides are accessible through our website.

It is very important to read these guides because they may answer some of your questions and help you understand the nature of the New School Archives' collections -- all from the comfort of your home or office.

For more information about finding aids, please visit Introduction to Archival Research.

If you read the collection guide and you still have questions, we will be happy to assist you.

Before contacting us

Here are some things to consider before contacting us as we may ask you these questions:

1. What is your research topic? Providing us with more information is better than providing us with less. We want to understand how you are approaching your research in order to help you.

2. Have you looked at the collection guide (see above) for the collection you would like to access?

3. What days and times are convenient for you to visit the New School Archives? We ask that your first choice for an appointment be a minimum of three business days from the day that you are submitting your request.
