CORE ESL Journal Article Research

Use ERIC and LLBA to search for articles on topics in education and language teaching and learning. Access all databases by using your my.newschool login credentials when prompted.

ERIC (ProQuest)
The ERIC (Educational Resources Information Center) database is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education to provide extensive access to education-related literature. The ERIC database corresponds to two printed journals: Resources in Education (RIE) and Current Index to Journals in Education (CIJE). Both journals provide access to some 14,000 documents and over 20,000 journal articles per year.
Linguistics and Language Behavior Abstracts (ProQuest)
This database abstracts and indexes the international literature in linguistics and related disciplines in the language sciences. The database covers all aspects of the study of language including phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax and semantics. Documents indexed include journal articles, book reviews, books, book chapters, dissertations and working papers.

Use it to get an overview on your subject or familiarize yourself with issues to learn about a new subject; find current events, interviews, commentary, etc.

►Use the power of this database by Limiting Dates, Document Type (e.g. interviews, reviews), and using the fields in the Search section (Citation and Abstract vs. Citation and Document Text)

►Narrow your Results list by using the menu on the right to choose Scholarly Journals, a Subject area or to select a Publication Date range

►This is a good starting place for most topics “to see what’s out there.” It's also a great database for news, popular views, interviews

JSTOR
JSTOR is a not-for-profit organization with a mission to create and maintain a trusted archive of important scholarly journals and to provide access to these journals as widely as possible. Content in JSTOR spans many disciplines, primarily in the humanities and social sciences. Recent articles are generally not available.
