Public Libraries

The New School students have access to and can get a library card at all branches of the New York Public Library, Brooklyn Public Library and Queens Library

NYPL’s Stephen A. Schwarzman Building at 42nd Street and Fifth Avenue contains non-circulating research collections.

UNIVERSITY LEARNING CENTER

The University Learning Center helps students  through individual tutoring sessions that cover every phase of the writing process. Meet with tutors to brainstorm ideas for a paper, develop a rough draft, or discuss how to approach and organize an assignment.

Tutoring is available on a walk-in basis or by scheduled appointments. Scheduled appointments can be face-to-face or via telephone. 

Our Consortium Libraries

The New School students have access and borrowing privileges at Consortium libraries, which include Bobst library at NYU and Cooper Union.  For more information, please visit http://library.newschool.edu/consortium

Other Libraries

Their media collection "contains nearly 150,000 television and radio programs and advertisements" that can be accessed at their Manhattan location. Website includes "This Day in Media" and other resources on media history and current issues.

In Astoria, Queens. Showcases "the art, history, technique, and technology of film, television, and digital media... by collecting, preserving, and providing access to moving-image related artifacts, screening significant films and other moving-image works, presenting exhibitions of artifacts, artworks, and interactive experiences..."

WorldCat is an online union catalog containing the holdings of major libraries throughout the U.S. including libraries in the New York metropolitan area.

Metro Cards are referral cards to NYC area libraries that provide access to specific resources not available from the Consortium libraries or NYC public libraries. Please see a reference librarian for details.

Interlibrary Loan is available for materials not available through The New School Libraries, Consortium libraries and NYC public libraries.  To request ILL materials, sign into the NYU ILL website with your NetID and password.
