As of the Fall Semester 2024, The New School Libraries transitioned to a more intuitive software for managing course reserves readings. The basic process remains much the same as it has been for the past decade--you will access course reserves from within Canvas. This step-by-step guide will walk you through the reserves process, i.e., placing materials--including but not limited to books, articles, and streaming videos--into reading lists accessible to your students on Canvas. For general library information about course support, please see our website and FAQs.
You will still be able to import reading lists from your previous classes! We have loaded historical data from 2019-2024 into the new software. If you need a list from years prior to that date range, please Ask Us [libhelp@newschool.edu]! We can pull that information for you. You will also still be able to upload your own files or request new items not already in our catalog, and we will verify and secure any necessary copyright permissions. We'll buy new items in electronically accessible editions whenever possible.
There are also many advanced options available for organizing your reading lists and interacting with students. Check out the video, "Meet Leganto."
First and foremost, you may always Ask Us [libhelp@newschool.edu], take advantage of our Librarian Live Chat service, or contact your Subject Librarian directly.
